Bangkok: Come admire the decorative lights around Bangkok on National Mother’s Day, August 12. The government invites people to admire the beauty of decorative lights around Bangkok in honor of National Mother’s Day.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Government Spokesperson Anukul Prueksanusak announced that the Department of Rural Roads (DRR) and the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) have collaborated to install decorative lights along various roads. This initiative is to honor Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother’s birthday, celebrated annually on August 12th. The public is encouraged to enjoy the display as a tribute to Her Majesty’s grace.
The MEA has installed more than 2 million decorative lights at key locations, including Amporn Sathan Throne Hall, the Grand Palace, and Sanam Luang area. Other locations such as Ratchadamnoen Nai Road and Si Ayutthaya Road will also feature these lights daily from 6:00 PM to midnight, through August 19, 2025.
In addition, the DRR will illuminate 12 bridges crossing the Chao Phraya River from August 10 to 13, 2025. These include the Phra Pok Klao Bridge and Bhumibol Bridge 1, among others. On August 12, 2025, the lights will remain on until midnight to also celebrate His Majesty the King’s birthday, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
