Bhumtham Denies Targeting Political Transfers in Interior Ministry Appointments

Bangkok: Bhumtham Wechayachai, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has clarified that recent transfers within the Interior Ministry are not politically motivated. He emphasized that the moves are based on individual abilities and are intended to allow officials to effectively perform their duties.

According to Thai News Agency, Bhumtham’s comments came after the Cabinet approved the transfer of 25 civil servants in the Interior Ministry. These transfers were proposed by the Ministry and are part of an ongoing process of restructuring. Bhumtham acknowledged that this is not the final round of transfers and that more proposals for high-ranking officials are expected in the future. He insisted that the transfers are not aimed at undermining provincial governors aligned with other political parties, as every province has political strongholds. Instead, the focus is on merit-based appointments to ensure efficient governance.
