Bangkok: “Bhumtham” received orders from the Cabinet meeting to file a civil and criminal lawsuit against Cambodia. Bhumtham, at yesterday’s Cabinet meeting, instructed relevant agencies to consider filing civil and criminal charges against Cambodia for serious crimes. He emphasized that this is not a case before the International Court of Justice, and he could not yet answer whether the GBC case has been concluded.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, acting as Prime Minister, addressed yesterday’s Cabinet meeting regarding the filing of civil and criminal damages lawsuits. He stated that he would have relevant agencies investigate the matter, as it constitutes a serious crime. He added that the matter would not be brought before the International Court of Justice. Instead, he would have the National Security Council, the Treaty and Legal Affairs Department, and the Council of State investigate the various channels available to file a lawsuit against Cambodia for damages.
Regarding the General Border Committee (GBC) meeting in Malaysia, according to officials’ reports, what is the trend? Mr. Bhumtham stated that the trend is still unknown, depending on the facts, as discussions are not yet concluded. Let’s wait until the discussions are finished.
When reporters asked whether a conclusion would be reached at tomorrow’s meeting or if further discussions would be needed, Mr. Phumtham said he didn’t know yet.
