Bangkok: Bhumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, acting as Prime Minister, extended his gratitude to the military for their steadfast performance in protecting the nation. He urged the Cabinet to consider special provisions for military personnel, addressing ongoing clashes with Cambodian forces despite a ceasefire agreement.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham highlighted the challenges faced along the 800-kilometer border, where communication lapses have led to extended violence beyond the planned ceasefire time. He emphasized that the Thai military remains disciplined and is committed to maintaining peace, while further discussions are needed to address the ongoing issues.

The Deputy Prime Minister clarified that the negotiations aimed for an unconditional ceasefire, with all military proposals included in discussions. He expressed appreciation for the military’s dedication and proposed that the Cabinet ensures the welfare of personnel involved in the clashes.
