“Big Jazz” Commits to Transform Thupatemi Golf Course into a Public Park for Pathum Thani Residents.

Pathum Thani: “Big Jazz” has announced plans to transform the Thupatemi Golf Course into a public park, aiming to provide much-needed green space for residents of Pathum Thani. This initiative is contingent upon the transfer of the golf course’s management to the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization, with a dedicated budget allocation promised to ensure its development as a recreational area. However, the potential impact on security remains a sensitive issue that requires further discussion.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chetawan Tueprakon, Pathum Thani MP and Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Sports, Recreation, and Army Services, is leading efforts to explore the transfer of the 625 rai of Air Force land for alternative use. The subcommittee, comprising representatives from various armed forces and local administrative organizations, met to deliberate on changing the land’s purpose and the benefits it would bring to local communities. Mr. Chetawan emphasized the proposal to convert
the golf course into a public park, highlighting the potential social and economic benefits.

Mr. Chetawan further explained that the subcommittee has been gathering input from stakeholders, including representatives of local municipalities and armed forces. The discussions have centered on the potential transformation of the golf course into a multi-purpose recreational area, which could provide significant public benefits. He noted that the current revenue from the golf course is relatively modest, and repurposing the land could generate greater value for the community.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit Toopkrachang, President of the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization, indicated that the organization is prepared to take responsibility for the site if transferred. While the transformation could create employment challenges for current golf course staff, plans are in place to address these issues, drawing on successful models from other regions. The plan also includes the potential establishment of a
primary medical center, further enhancing the area’s value to the community.

The overall goal, as outlined by Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit, is to create a space that not only serves as a recreational area but also benefits public health and well-being. He reassured that the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization is ready to allocate the necessary budget for this transformation, recognizing the importance of providing public green spaces for residents. However, the proposal’s impact on security will be carefully considered, with further discussions planned to address any concerns.
