Bangkok: “Big Tao” explained to the Police Committee that what was demanded has been changed. “Big Tao” presented a statement to the Police Committee, asserting that his demands have been met, even if it’s only for two positions. He also pointed out that he wants the Royal Thai Police to use the Police Act 2022 to ensure fairness for all civil servants.
According to Thai News Agency, Police Major General Charoonkiat Pankaew, Deputy Commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, addressed the Police Commission’s complaints regarding unfair transfers and appointments before the committee. He stated that he wants the Royal Thai Police to use the 2022 National Police Act to consider the knowledge and abilities of all police officers who meet the criteria. He does not want to disqualify them from consideration, and urges consideration from the rank of General to Inspector to ensure fairness for all parties.
When asked how the appointment process could be halted, Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat stated that he did not seek to halt the process but simply wanted the Royal Thai Police to utilize the National Police Act to benefit fellow officers and boost morale. However, what was requested resulted in the replacement of Pol. Maj. Gen. Noppasin Poolsawat and Pol. Maj. Gen. Rungroj Thakoorpunyasiri with more knowledgeable and capable individuals. He was satisfied with this, and therefore had no further concerns about the appointments. He believes that when demands are made, it is to set a precedent for the Royal Thai Police. Previously, he demanded that Superintendent Boem, who committed suicide and is now facing charges under Section 157, be prosecuted. While he was fully committed to his duties, he expressed his desire to make these demands. He urged the Royal Thai Police to prioritize the Act and implement it fairly and seriously. This is what he wants.
Police Major General Charoonkiat also stated that he learned today that Police General Kittirat Panphet, the National Police Chief, had also come to explain to the Police Commission. He stated that he was present to discuss and reach an understanding. He stated that at the very least, he represented the majority of police officers who wanted the Royal Thai Police to operate in a fair and just manner.
