Bangkok: A biometric system has been launched at six Airports of Thailand (AOT) locations, enabling passengers to board flights without the need for physical tickets. This system is designed to streamline the boarding process by verifying passengers’ identities through facial recognition technology. Travelers can now move from the passenger identification checkpoint to the boarding gate by scanning their face at designated service points, eliminating the need to present a boarding pass or national ID card.
According to Thai News Agency, this advancement positions the country as one of the first in the ASEAN region to implement such a system. The introduction of this technology aims to enhance convenience and speed for travelers passing through these airports. The biometric system is expected to reduce bottlenecks and improve the overall efficiency of airport operations, thereby benefiting both passengers and airport staff.
