Bangkok: Brendan Rodgers has resigned as Celtic manager with immediate effect. Scottish Championship giants Celtic have announced that Rodgers has stepped down from his role, and former manager Martin O’Neill will take over on an interim basis.
According to Thai News Agency, Celtic, the second-placed Premier League club in the city of Glasgow, disclosed that Rodgers chose to resign after the team’s recent match against Hearts on Sunday, where they suffered a 3-1 defeat. Prior to this, the Green and White Zebras faced a 2-0 loss to Dundee. These back-to-back defeats have left the Whisky League champions eight points behind the league leaders, Hearts.
The recent performance of the team prompted the Northern Irish manager to tender his resignation, which the club accepted without delay.
