The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is providing technical assistance or guidance to regional governments on forming regional innovation ecosystems to improve village development and boost people’s prosperity.
“This assistance is a part of the process to form a science-based regional innovation ecosystem,” BRIN head Laksana Tri Handoko informed during the Meet Brida event, which was streamed virtually on Monday.
The technical guidance comes in the form of facilitation, consultation, research, development, education, and training, he said during the event, which was themed “Strengthening Regional Research and Innovation Ecosystem for Sustainable Development.”
Through research and innovation activities, regional governments can produce accurate science-based policies that can serve as a vital foundation of development in every sector.
Research and innovation activities can also help each regional government implement its autonomy system accurately.
Through intensive coordination with the central government, regional development is expected to optimally contribute to national development.
The implementation of policies, research, inventions, and innovations in regions necessitates accurate plans and strategies. In this regard, technical guidance is necessary and regional research and innovation agencies (Bridas) in each region are important, Handoko said.
BRIN is supporting the formation of Bridas in regions as partners that have the important function of strengthening research-based policy-making.
Bridas are also crucial for bolstering the research and innovation ecosystem and establishing its presence at each level of government, including central and regional, as well as among the broader public.
Brida is a new entity that acts as a unit under the regional government. Its formation and program are coordinated with BRIN.
The presence of Bridas, which will serve as collaborators for resolving research-based issues, is expected to support economic growth.
The formation of Bridas can be integrated with regional institutions that handle regional government issues through research and development, Handoko said.
Further, the technical guidance framework of Bridas has been integrated with the development planning function.
