Bangkok: The Broadcasting and Radio Professional Council of Thailand has issued a statement regarding the inclusion of animals in TV series. From the case of bringing cats to participate in the show in the series “Mae Yua” of Channel One 31, which was broadcasted through the station and through the OTT Application, the move was criticized as inappropriate and considered animal cruelty.
According to Thai News Agency, the Broadcasting Council of Thailand, a professional body responsible for self-regulation of ethics for professionals and member organizations in the broadcasting industry in Thailand, has been closely monitoring the situation. The Council will assign the Subcommittee to consider complaints to gather facts to investigate whether member organizations have committed any acts that violate the Broadcasting Council’s regulations on ethical standards and professional codes of conduct, B.E. 2554. The findings will be submitted to the Broadcasting Council of Thailand’s committee for consideration and act
ion in accordance with the duties and powers specified in the Council’s constitution.
In addition, from the aforementioned incident, the Broadcasting Professional Council (Thailand) would like to ask for cooperation from all member organizations and stations to exercise utmost caution when bringing animals to perform in dramas, series, and other programs, regardless of the content of the program being broadcast on which channel. This is to avoid violating the Broadcasting and Radio Professional Council’s regulations on ethical standards and codes of conduct of the profession, 2011.
The Council also plans to call a meeting of member organizations to ensure a correct understanding and consider issuing guidelines for using animals in filming various programs in a different manner.
