Chachoengsao: Buddhists across the country flock to make merit and offer alms to monks on Asarnha Bucha Day for good fortune.
According to Thai News Agency, at Wat Sothon Wararam Worawihan, the governor of Chachoengsao Province presided over the alms-giving ceremony of dry food and rice on the occasion of Asalha Bucha Day, an important Buddhist holiday before the beginning of Buddhist Lent in 2568. Heads of government agencies, soldiers, police officers, and Buddhists participated in the merit-making, forming a long line stretching to the pavilion by the Bang Pakong River behind the Ubosot of Wat Sothon Wararam Worawihan. They took the five precepts and received blessings from Phra Thep Phawanawachirakhun, the abbot of Wat Sothon Wararam Worawihan and the provincial ecclesiastical leader of Chachoengsao. Offerings were presented to the monks, and blessings were received in return. The abbot, leading the monks and novices, accepted the alms bowls offered by the Buddhists.
In Phitsanulok Province, particularly at Wat Ratchaburana, a royal temple, the atmosphere was peaceful and orderly, with Buddhists dressing in white or formal clothing. They brought Buddhist Lent candles, flowers, incense, and other items to make merit by offering alms, listening to sermons, and providing food to monks for the well-being of themselves and their families. The day was marked by a sense of faith and devotion.
