Cabinet Approves Centralization of Government Services on Citizen Portal

Bangkok: The Cabinet has approved service plans for government agencies to be centralized on the Citizen Portal, a digital platform designed to consolidate all government services in one location.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, the deputy government spokeswoman, announced that the Cabinet’s decision aims to integrate the services of various government agencies onto a central digital platform. This initiative will be realized through the Government Service Center for Business Sector (Biz Portal) or the Central Portal System for Citizens (Citizen Portal) and is scheduled for implementation within the fiscal years 2568-2570. The plan encompasses a total of 2,101 services.

As part of the implementation, agencies without an existing electronic service channel will be required to offer their services on the Citizen Portal initially. Meanwhile, agencies that already provide electronic services will need to link their services to the central digital platform. The Public Sector Development Commission (OPDC) will oversee the periodic monitoring of this integration process.

The initiative is a response to past performance evaluations, which revealed that 182 government services are currently linked and accessible via the Biz Portal or Citizen Portal. This new plan aligns with five urgent government policies and ten focus areas outlined in Thailand’s digital development plan for 2566-2570, aiming for comprehensive development in multiple aspects. Relevant government agencies will establish stringent guidelines to ensure ease of use and the protection of personal data.

The Cabinet has also endorsed the principles and timeline for the plan, including the strategies and mechanisms necessary for developing and linking services to the central digital platform. This follows the resolution of the Screening Committee No. 6 at the 1/2568 meeting on April 21, 2568.
