Bangkok: The Cabinet has agreed to withdraw the Draft of the Complete Entertainment Business Act from the House of Representatives’ consideration, following a proposal from the Ministry of Finance. Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, the spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office, announced this decision after the Cabinet meeting. The draft bill aimed to establish a complete entertainment business framework, featuring a 2-level committee system for operation and regulation.
According to Thai News Agency, the Cabinet had initially approved the draft bill in principle on 13 January 2025, and it was sent to the Office of the Council of State for urgent review. The draft was subsequently amended to improve clarity and essential content. Despite these efforts, the Cabinet resolved on 1 April 2025 to acknowledge the draft bill’s inclusion in the House of Representatives’ agenda, following a recommendation from the House of Representatives Coordination Committee.
Mr. Jirayu explained that the recent Cabinet reshuffle led to the decision to withdraw the draft bill, as the new minister was appointed on 30 June 2025. The draft bill had encountered issues related to the social sector, prompting the Ministry of Finance to propose its withdrawal. The Cabinet agreed with this proposal, effectively removing the draft bill from the House of Representatives’ consideration.
