Bangkok: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement accusing Cambodia of violating the ceasefire agreement. This development comes after tensions between Thailand and Cambodia were expected to ease following a recently brokered ceasefire.
According to Thai News Agency, on the evening of July 29, 2025, less than 24 hours after the ceasefire agreement was established, Cambodian forces reportedly attacked Thai positions using small arms fire and hand grenades in the Phu Makhuea area of Sisaket Province. These aggressive actions continued until the morning of July 30, 2025, raising concerns about the stability of the ceasefire, which was intended to take effect at midnight on July 28, 2025.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that these actions by Cambodian forces represent a breach of the ceasefire agreement and highlight a lack of commitment to peace efforts. Despite the setback, Thailand has reaffirmed its dedication to the ceasefire and expressed a desire to resolve the situation through peaceful means. The Ministry has called on Cambodia to immediately halt all violations and adhere to the terms of the agreement.
