Cambodian delegation pays pre-Tet visit to Vinh Long province


Vinh Long: A delegation from Cambodia’s Kampong Speu province, led by its Governor Vei Samnang, on January 29 visited and extended greetings to the Party Organisation, administration and people of the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival.

Receiving the delegation, Chairman of the Vinh Long provincial People’s Committee Lu Quang Ngoi said that Vietnam and Cambodia have shared a long-standing traditional relationship and the two peoples have always stood side by side and helped each other. Upholding the traditional friendship and special solidarity between the two nations, the two provinces have always maintained and strengthened the sound relationship.

Ngoi thanked the Cambodian delegation and wished the “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability” between the two countries and their localities in particular will reap more fruitful results in the time ahead.

Vinh Long is home to about 22,000 Khmer pe
ople, accounting for 2.2% of its population, the official said, stressing that the province has paid due attention to implementing the Party and the State’s policies on ethnic groups and helping Khmer people improve their material and spiritual lives.

For his part, Vei Samnang affirmed that the Cambodian people always bear in mind the sacrifice of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who laid down their lives for Cambodia’s liberation cause as well as Vietnam’s assistance to the neighbouring country’s current development. He also called on Vinh Long province to invest in Kampong Speu.

The governor extended his New Year greetings to the Party Organisation, administration and people of Long An, and hoped that the solidary, friendship and cooperation between the two countries and the two provinces will further prosper in the years to come./.
