Central Investigation Bureau Intensifies Probe into Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu Donation Account

Bangkok: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) is accelerating its investigation into the donation account managed by Dr. B, which was established to collect funds for Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu. As the inquiry advances, the CIB plans to invite Luang Por Alongkot for further questioning concerning these donations.

According to Thai News Agency, the investigation into Dr. B and the Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu case has made significant headway. Investigators are meticulously examining Dr. B’s donation account and its bank statements. While the probe continues to unravel the complexities of the donations, the CIB maintains discretion regarding the specifics due to the delicate nature of the issue and its potential impact on public sentiment. The bureau has assured that the investigation will be conducted with the highest standards of integrity and thoroughness.

Investigators have already engaged with Luang Por Alongkot, the former abbot of the temple, but have yet to collect all the necessary evidence. Consequently, further questioning of Luang Por Alongkot and his close associates is deemed essential, although the CIB has not confirmed a specific schedule for this.

In addition, the discovery of over 20 corpses of HIV-infected patients within a temple museum has raised concerns regarding possible violations of the Cemetery and Crematorium Act. Should legal proceedings be initiated, it will fall upon the Ministry of Public Health to lodge a report with local law enforcement, and this issue will be treated as a distinct case.
