Haiphong city: The Thai women’s national football team, known as Chaba Kaew, was defeated by Vietnam with a score of 1-3, concluding their run in the ASEAN Women’s Football Championship in 4th place. In a closely contested final, Australia managed to edge out Myanmar, clinching their inaugural championship title.
According to Thai News Agency, the ASEAN Football Championship “MSIG Serenity Cup 2025” 3rd place match took place at Lach Chai Stadium in Haiphong City, Vietnam. The host team, Vietnam, faced off against Thailand. The match saw Vietnam gaining an early advantage with a goal from Pham Hai Yen in the 45+1 minute, leaving the score at 1-0 by halftime.
In the second half, Vietnam extended their lead in the 65th minute when Nu Hunh capitalized on a rebound after Thai goalkeeper Pawarisa Homyen initially saved the shot. Just three minutes later, Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy scored, bringing Vietnam’s lead to 3-0. Thailand managed to score in the 87th minute with a goal from Wiranya Kaewnakasikham, ending the game at 1-3 in favor of Vietnam, who secured 3rd place.
In the final match, Australia U-23 faced Myanmar, seeking to avenge a previous group stage loss where Myanmar had triumphed 2-1. Australia succeeded in their quest, winning 1-0 with Holly Furphy scoring the crucial goal in the 66th minute, marking Australia’s first ASEAN championship victory.
