Chaiya Promma Pays Respects at Parliament Shrines Before Assuming Deputy Speaker Role

Bangkok: Chaiya Promma, the first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, paid respects at the Phra Siam Devathirat shrine and the Grandfather-Grandmother shrine at the Parliament building as he prepares to assume office. Chaiya, a member of the Pheu Thai Party and an MP for Nong Bua Lamphu, is expected to receive royal approval before the upcoming parliamentary session set to consider the 69th budget from August 13th to 15th.

According to Thai News Agency, Chaiya’s visit to the shrines follows his recent approval by the House of Representatives on August 7th as the First Deputy Speaker. This ceremonial gesture precedes the anticipated receipt of the Royal Command for his appointment. The Parliament has made arrangements for the ceremony to receive the Royal Command, which is expected to occur before the second and third readings of the 2026 Budget Bill, scheduled between August 13th and 15th.
