Bangkok: Flash floods from the Phang Heo mountain range have overflowed and cut off the entrance and exit routes to the village. More than 60 students and villagers were unable to travel and were stuck for over three hours.
According to Thai News Agency, a murky red torrent of water flowed from the Phang Hoei mountain range into Huai Frang stream in Watabaek subdistrict, Thep Sathit district, Chaiyaphum province. The swift and high water mass inundated the road and bridge connecting Ban Huai Frang, Village No. 4, and Ban Dong Lan, Village No. 11, spilling over a steep cliff just five meters from the bridge, creating a terrifying situation. Both villagers’ vehicles and school buses, totaling more than 60 people, decided to wait on the road until the flood situation improved.
After waiting for more than 3 hours, the strength and rapid flow of the water began to decrease. Community leaders and Thepsathit District officials, who had come to watch out for a repeat of the car falling into the ravine, began allowing cars to drive across the bridge to another village. They expected that if it didn’t rain again today, the water level would return to normal, allowing small and large cars to drive.
Regarding the area, villagers emphasized that people have been swept off the cliff many times. They urge the government, or the new government, to help build a bridge to facilitate travel for villagers. They are concerned about the lives of the villagers, but also the risks students face.
