Chinese Man Arrested for Gold Theft in Thailand

Bangkok: A 59-year-old Chinese man has been arrested for allegedly stealing two baht of gold from a local gold shop.

According to Thai News Agency, the man was apprehended by Royal Palace investigators in the lobby of a hotel located in the Samphanthawong area. The theft reportedly involved a gold bracelet valued at 111,280 baht, which the suspect concealed in his pants pocket after asking to see it under the pretense of making a purchase.

The incident was captured on CCTV, providing clear evidence that led the police to seek an arrest warrant from the court. Despite the footage, the suspect denied the charges during the raid but expressed willingness to pay for the damages. A background check revealed that the man had a pattern of entering and exiting Thailand once a month, staying no longer than three days each visit. On the day of the theft, he had brought only two sets of clothing and intended to return to his home country shortly after committing the crime. However, authorities managed to arrest him before he could leave Thailand.
