Bangkok: A tragic accident claimed the life of a city police officer when the motorcycle she was riding crashed into the back of a sedan at the foot of the outbound Sirindhorn overpass on Borommaratchachonnani Road. The incident occurred in the Taling Chan Subdistrict and District, where emergency services were called to the scene.
According to Thai News Agency, the victim was identified as Ms. Phonpimol, a 57-year-old municipal officer. She was found lying face down in the middle of the road, wearing a black sweatshirt with the municipality logo, black sweatpants, and an orange raincoat. The accident left her with wounds on her face, arms, and torso. Nearby, her red and black motorcycle was discovered overturned and damaged. The involved sedan, a gray Toyota with a Bangkok license plate, was located about twenty meters away, bearing scratches on its right rear side.
The driver of the sedan, visibly shaken, recounted that he had been returning from a funeral in Lat Krabang and was on his way home to Nakhon
Pathom Province via Bang Phlat. While driving along Sirindhorn and Borommaratchachonnani Road, the motorcycle unexpectedly rear-ended his car, causing the rider to fall. Upon stopping to investigate, he discovered Ms. Phonpimol and was left in shock, unsure of how to respond.
Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the accident site to piece together the events leading up to the collision. The sedan driver has been invited to Taling Chan Police Station for further questioning as investigations continue.
