Companies employing disabled people get awards from Manpower Ministry

The Manpower Ministry has awarded three state-owned enterprises and nine private companies that employ people with disabilities, as a mark of appreciation, and to encourage other firms to improve access for disabled individuals.

Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah stated that the government had continually striven to fulfill the right of access to work for people with disabilities in accordance with Law Number 8 of 2016 on People with Disabilities. The minister delivered the statement here on Tuesday.

“One of the ways is by giving national awards to companies and state-owned enterprises that employ people with disabilities in 2021. This activity is also in accordance with the provisions of Article 139 of Law Number 8 of 2016 about people with disabilities, which mandates that the government and regional governments can give awards to legal entities and state institutions that employ people with disabilities,” she elaborated.

The award was bestowed on PT Telkom Indonesia, PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum, and PT Perkebunan Nusantara III for the state-owned enterprises category.

PT Surabaya Autocomp Indonesia from East Java, PT Bintang Indokarya Gemilang from Central Java, PT Manna Kampus from Yogyakarta, PT Shima Prima Utama from South Sumatra, CV Shiha Ali Berkah from Lampung, PT Sari Boga Sejahatera from Bali, CV Aksara Sunyi Nusantara from DKI Jakarta, CV HJ Ramlah Mandiri from South Sulawesi, and CV Ady Irma Tadulako from Central Sulawesi were among the private companies awarded.

According to data from the Manpower Ministry’s Mandatory Employment Report in 2021, only 588 companies were employing 4,554 people with disabilities out of a total of 543 thousand employees registered in the Manpower Ministry’s system.

On the other hand, only 72 state-owned enterprises have employed a total of 1,271 people with disabilities. (
