Comptroller General’s Department Calls for Urgent Submission of SEA Games Allowance Request

Bangkok: The Comptroller General's Department is expediting the Sports Department's request for approval of SEA Games sports allowances. Mrs. Patricia Mongkolvanich, Director-General of the Comptroller General's Department, has urged the Sports Department to urgently submit their request for approval of the SEA Games sports allowance.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Preecha Lalun, Deputy Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, highlighted that Thai athletes have yet to receive their training allowance for the 33rd SEA Games in 2025. The delay, dating back to May 2025, is due to pending approval of the spending plan from the Comptroller General's Department, amounting to 480 million baht.

The Comptroller General's Department discovered that on 18 June 2025, the National Sports Development Fund Executive Board, during its 4/2025 meeting, approved an increase in expenses for promoting and supporting sports-related activities. This was under Plan 7, aimed at supporting the system for developing athletes to achieve excellence nationally and internationally for the fiscal year 2025. The approval was conditional on the Excellent Sports Development Division, within the Sports Authority of Thailand, preparing detailed documents, as per the observations of the executive board, before submission to the Ministry of Finance for consideration by the Comptroller General's Department. As of 22 July 2025, no request for approval to adjust the plan and increase the budget framework has been received from the Sports Authority of Thailand. Consequently, the Sports Authority is requested to expedite the necessary processes and submit the relevant documents to the Comptroller General's Department as promptly as po ssible.
