Bangkok: The Constitutional Court has mandated further clarification regarding Bhumtham and Thawee’s alleged involvement in Senate collusion. The court has ordered witnesses to provide additional information within a 15-day period and has requested documentary evidence concerning the allegations against the two individuals.
According to Thai News Agency, the court’s actions follow a petition filed by the Senate President. The petition seeks a ruling on whether the ministerial positions of Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and Police Colonel Thawee Sodsong, Minister of Justice, have been terminated in accordance with the relevant sections of the Constitution. The allegations involve the defendants’ actions to declare other criminal offenses as special cases under the Special Investigation Act of 2004, which purportedly interfered with the Election Commission’s scrutiny process of the Senate election.
The court’s summons aims to gather written statements from witnesses to confirm facts or provide opinions on specific issues identified by the Constitutional Court. The witnesses are required to submit the requested documentation along with certification of accuracy to the Constitutional Court within the stipulated 15-day timeframe.
