Cooking oil BLT disbursal will be complete before Eid: minister

The distribution of cash transfer (BLT) for cooking oil will be complete before Eid al-Fitr since the disbursal has reached 98 percent, Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, has said.

“By God’s willing, it will be completed in the next two to three days,” Rismaharini informed in Jakarta on Monday.

Although the disbursal is almost complete, several obstacles have been encountered in BLT distribution due to geographical conditions and beneficiary data.

“There are many obstacles since Indonesia is an archipelagic country, including in Papua. Yesterday, we have sent a plane to fasten the distribution,” the minister said.

The government has announced cash transfer for cooking oil of Rp100 thousand per month for three months, namely April, May, and June. The aid for three months is being combined and distributed in April 2022.

Thus, people who meet the requirements have begun receiving cash assistance of Rp300 thousand per beneficiary family (KPM) through PT Pos Indonesia.

The cash transfer will be disbursed to 20.65 million beneficiary families, consisting of 18.8 million KPMs of Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT), and 1.85 million KPMs of the Family Hope Program (PKH), who have not been registered as BPNT recipients.

The policy is a part of the government’s efforts to protect and maintain people’s purchasing power, especially the poor and vulnerable groups, to support and encourage national economic recovery.

Thus, the policy is expected to contribute to strengthening the economic foundation in facing various challenges and risks posed by the dynamics of the global and domestic economies.

Earlier, the Finance Ministry had prepared a budget of Rp6.9 trillion for the distribution of cash transfer for cooking oil. The recipients of the BLT will comprise people who have been registered in the Social Welfare Integrated Data (DTKS) of the Ministry of Social Affairs.

The DTKS is a database synchronized with the verified identity number (NIK).
