COVID: First dose vaccination rate at Palangka Raya reaches 73.46%

The first COVID-19 vaccine dose has been administered to 73.46 percent of residents in Palangka Raya, Mayor Fairid Naparin has said.

“Until yesterday 164,111 people of the 223,417 vaccination target have been given the first dose. This figure is about 73.46 percent of the vaccination target,” he informed in Palangka Raya on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the second dose vaccination rate has reached 50.49 percent, he said. As many as 112,810 people have been completely vaccinated against COVID-19, he added.

Aiming for a higher rate of COVID-19 vaccinations, the Palangka Raya city government and other stakeholders are pushing for vaccinations, which are being performed by both health service centers and others, he said.

According to data from the Palangka Raya city’s COVID-19 task force, the 223,417 residents targeted by the vaccine program comprise five categories: 3,512 health workers, 14,287 elderly people, 21,920 public servants, 154,647 general public, and 29,051 teenagers.

As of Monday, at least 5,217 health workers have received the first vaccine dose, 4,972 people have completed the second dose, and 3,263 health workers have received booster vaccines, the mayor said.

Meanwhile, 7,672 elderly residents have received the first vaccine dose and at least 6,478 have received the second dose, he informed. From the targeted public servants, 57,296 have received the first dose and 48,651 have completed the second dose, he added.

Among the general public, 90,693 people have obtained the first dose and 50,311 people have obtained the second dose, Naparin said. Lastly, at least 3,233 teenagers have taken the first dose and 2,398 have taken the second dose, he added.

The mayor urged the people in the city to continue to follow the COVID-19 health protocols to minimize the potential spread of COVID-19, which seems unlikely to end anytime soon.

To check the spread of COVID-19, the Palangka Raya city government, through the task force team, is continuing to make efforts ranging from education, early detection, security, to case handling, the mayor said.
