Cross-sectoral collaboration coupled with an innovative and adaptative strategy are deemed crucial to revive the tourism and creative economy industry during the pandemic, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno stated.
“Collaboration should be conducted with various parties, as we can create a strategy and fight together as well as revive together,” Uno noted during the “Collaboration toward National Tourism Recovery as COVID-19 Impact” webinar.
“To this end, let us improve cooperation, so that the tourism and creative economy industry can revive and open as many jobs as possible to drive the national economy,” he remarked, as quoted from an official statement on Friday.
The webinar from the Agoda digital travel platform was attended by over 500 participants from the hotel and tourism industry.
It discussed the readiness of the tourism industry, specifically the reopening of Bali for international tourists as well as the importance of coordinated cooperation between the central government and tourism organizations in Indonesia.
Based on the digital travel platform’s search data, Bali remains the top choice for international tourists in 2021 as compared to 2019 before the pandemic.
With Bali being reopened for international tourists, the need for collaboration between stakeholders is deemed important.
Ever since the pandemic struck, the Bali Tourism Board has collaborated with the Tourism Ministry to offer several things, Head of the Bali Tourism Board Ida Bagus Aging Partha Adnyana noted.
These are essential goods; Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) certification; vaccination; 35 quarantine hotels; and several facilities to support tracing and treatment in Bali, he highlighted.
“As an association, we play an important role in helping their acceleration,” he affirmed.
Head of the Association of Hospitality Leaders Indonesia (AHLI) I Ketut Swabawa supports closer cooperation between stakeholders. He also lauded the presence of the online travel agent service.
“The online travel agent service can attract visitors faster, cheaper, and in a more practical manner. Instead of relying on self-marketing, hotels can have better and faster results with this platform,” he remarked.
