Department of Rural Roads Lights Up Chao Phraya Bridges for Queen Mother’s Birthday

Bangkok: The Department of Highways joins in celebrating Mother's Day by lighting up 12 bridges over the Chao Phraya River. The Department of Rural Roads (DRR) marked the occasion of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother's birthday on August 12, 2025, by illuminating 12 bridges across the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok and its vicinity. The bridges include Maha Jessadabodin Bridge, Krung Thon Bridge (Sang Hi), Phra Phutthayotfa Bridge, Phra Pok Klao Bridge, Somdet Phra Chao Taksin Maharat Bridge, Bhumibol I Bridge, Bhumibol II Bridge, Krungthep Bridge, Rama III Bridge, Rama IV Bridge, Rama V Bridge, and Rama VII Bridge.

According to Thai News Agency, the decorative lights are scheduled to be turned on for four days, from Sunday, August 10 to Wednesday, August 13, 2025. The lighting will occur each evening from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Notably, on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, coinciding with Her Majesty's birthday, the bridges will be illuminated from 7:00 PM to midnight. This initiative aims to express loyalty and gratitude for Her Majesty's grace and to create a festive atmosphere during the national holiday.
