Digital Talent Scholarship an effort to nurture talent: ministry

The Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) is among the government’s efforts to prepare and improve national digital talent, head of human resources research and development at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Dr. Hary Budiarto, has said.

“The government, through the Communication and Informatics Ministry, is collaborating with all stakeholders to amplify the digital talents development program within the Digital Talent Scholarship that synergizes ideas,” he noted in a press statement released here on Tuesday.

In 2021, the ministry is aiming to churn out 100 thousand digital talents, he said. People who participate in the DTS program until the end will receive national and international level certificates, he added.

The knowledge and the certificates are expected to help the participants face the digital-based business world, he said.

According to Budiarto, the pandemic has expedited digitalization in all aspects of life across Indonesia and the world.

There is now an urgent need for a large number of competent and skilled digital talents to meet the industry’s requirements both now and in the future, he said.

Indonesia requires to groom 600 thousand digital talents per year and 9 million talents by 2030, he highlighted.

The ministry is cooperating with various parties, including the technology company that will hold the Seeds for the Future 2021 again from November 8 to 15 for skilled and talented students from Indonesian universities, he informed.

The program this year emphasizes preparing digital talents for the changing trend in the future of work, especially post-pandemic, and offers a chance for participants to develop international networks, he added.

Earlier,  communication and informatics law expert  Danrivanto Budhijanto noted that the younger generation, especially Indonesian millennials, have the potential to win the global technology warfare, specifically digital technology.
