Bangkok: The Director-General of the Provincial Administration has signed an order to remove the Thanyaburi District Chief from his position due to issues related to an illegal pub involved in drug activities.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nirat Phongsitthaworn, the Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, issued Order No. 1901/2025 concerning the reassignment of civil servants engaged in government work. The order, made under the authority of Section 32 of the Provincial Administration Act and amended by Section 12 of the Government Administration Act (No. 5) B.E. 2545, mandates the transfer of Second Lieutenant Theeraphol Choknamchai, the Senior Director and District Chief of Thanyaburi District, Pathum Thani Province, to the College of Local Administration within the Department of Local Administration. This transfer takes effect from August 8 and will remain in place until further notice.
Reporters revealed that this decision followed a joint operation by special units from the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization, the Thanyaburi District Administrative Organization, and officers from the Pratunam Chulalongkorn Police Station. The operation, conducted after 12:45 a.m. on August 8, led to the inspection of an illegal pub in Thanyaburi District, where illegal drugs were discovered, prompting the dismissal of the district chief.
