Bangkok: Dr. B’s lawyer has asserted that the funds donated to his client were used appropriately, despite donors’ intentions for a different project. The lawyer, Mr. Santi Panyachairaksa, representing Mr. Seksan (Dr. B), emphasized that there was no misuse of funds, stating that cash was utilized as there was no internet banking system available at the time.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Santi clarified his role in addressing public concerns about the donations related to Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu. He submitted necessary documents and evidence to the Crime Suppression Division but noted that details remain undisclosed, and the police have not yet sought further information. He addressed concerns about funds intended for the Thai Life Cow and Buffalo Project being redirected to an HIV treatment project, asserting that such actions should not be considered misuse if they benefited the public, even if they diverged from the donors’ original objectives.
Mr. Santi explained that the decision to use cash donations was due to the absence of internet banking at the project’s inception. However, reporters discovered that the project occurred in 2019, when internet banking was available. Mr. Santi did not provide further clarification on this discrepancy.
Mr. Seksan, meanwhile, is reported to have recently recovered from an illness. Despite his health concerns, he remains largely unstressed, though he feels tired and worried about the monk associated with the project.
