Dr. Sumet’s Culinary Showcase at the Phatthapat Camellia Seed Oil Festival

Bangkok: Dr. Sumet demonstrated his cooking skills with “Khai Na Dam” during a press conference for the upcoming “Phatthapat Camellia Seed Oil Festival.” The event, organized by the Chaipattana Foundation in collaboration with The Mall Group, is set to take place from September 10-23, 2025, at Sphere Gallery 2, MSphere Shopping Center. It aims to highlight the benefits of Phatthapat Camellia Seed Oil.

According to Thai News Agency, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Honorary President and Chairwoman of the Chaipattana Foundation, has endorsed the festival, marking a decade of appreciation for camellia seed oil. Dr. Sumet Tantivejkul, Director and Secretary-General of the Chaipattana Foundation, led the press conference, emphasizing the royal initiative and the advantages of cultivating tea tree oil in Thailand. This initiative led to the development of Pattapat Camellia Seed Oil. The event also included a seminar featuring Ms. Phakamol Rattaseree of the Chaipattana Foundation and Ms. Ploychompoo Ampuch from The Mall Group.

During the event, Dr. Sumet prepared “Khai Na Kuen,” a dish using Pattapat Camellia Seed Oil, which includes three unique recipes. These recipes tell stories from Dr. Sumet’s life, such as “Khai Phra Athit,” a royal dish presented by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej to Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, and “Khai Rabeed,” inspired by experiences at the Royal Irrigation Department and in a security development project.

Ms. Ploichompoo Ampuch of The Mall Group expressed pride in being the first to distribute Patpat Camellia Seed Oil across all 16 Gourmet Market branches. The festival will also introduce new products like Patpat Camellia Oleifera and Cocoa Butter Soap and Body Wash from the Butterbear Series. This product line, developed in collaboration with the Chaipattana Foundation and lifestyle brand Butterbear, targets the new generation with a focus on sustainable development.
