Bangkok: A durian-laden trailer collided with a pickup truck after returning from cheering on the Prachuap FC football team, resulting in one death and five injuries. Late last night, police from Sam Krathai Police Station in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province received a report of a collision between a trailer truck and a pickup truck, resulting in multiple injuries, on Phetkasem Road, inbound to Bangkok, at kilometer markers 268 + 700, Sam Krathai Subdistrict, Kui Buri District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. According to Thai News Agency, they went to investigate along with highway police and rescue workers from the Kui Buri Highway Police Station, rescue workers from Kui Buri Hospital, and rescue workers from the Luang Pho Nai Kuti Foundation at Wat Kui Buri.
At the scene, a white four-door pickup truck with no license plate was found. The front and left side of the vehicle had been crushed, with all four wheels broken and damaged. Inside the vehicle, four injured men were found, who were given first aid before being taken to Sam Roi Yot Hospital. In addition, one person died in the rear left side of the vehicle. He was later identified as Mr. Thanakrit, 24, from Rai Mai Subdistrict, Sam Roi Yot District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.
Not far away, in the median of the road, a trailer truck with a Samut Prakan license plate was found overturned on its right side. Inside, the driver was found injured. Rescue workers had to smash the window and pull the body out. They found both legs broken. The driver was taken to Kui Buri Hospital for treatment. He was later identified as Mr. Kritidet, age 46.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. It’s known that a pickup truck carrying five people had just returned from cheering on the Prachuap FC football team at the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Stadium. Upon arriving at the scene, the truck collided with a trailer truck, resulting in the deaths and injuries mentioned above.
