Raid on Gambling Den in Tha It Area Leads to Arrest of 29 Gamblers

Nonthaburi: Police from Bang Sri Muang Police Station raided a gambling den in the middle of a village in the tha it area, arresting 29 gamblers who were secretly playing Kao Kae cards.

According to Thai News Agency, investigators from Bang Sri Muang Police Station surrounded a house in a village in the Tha It area of Sai Ma subdistrict, Mueang Nonthaburi district, Nonthaburi province, after receiving a report of illegal gambling. Upon identifying themselves, they arrested 29 gamblers and seized six decks of cards, 4,900 baht in cash, mobile phones, e-cigarettes, and CCTV footage. The investigation revealed that the 29 players had gathered to play Kao Kae inside the house. Three dealers and two homeowners were present. Police initially charged them with illegal gambling and granted bail for the dealer, 30,000 baht for each player, and 10,000 baht for each player.

Police Colonel Somchai Chaengthamma, Superintendent of Bang Sri Muang Police Station, disclosed that he had received a tip from an informant the previous night around 9:00 PM. He ordered police to mobilize to the scene and monitor the situation before arresting the 29 gamblers. Seized items included 3-4 decks of cards and 4,900 baht in cash.

All the gamblers had gathered to play from various areas. The scene was a residential house in a village, not a permanent gambling den. Most of the gamblers were from Thonburi and Nonthaburi provinces.
