Elderly Welfare Payments to Begin on September 16, 2025, in Phased Approach

Bangkok: Senior citizens entitled to the Elderly Welfare Fund can expect to receive their payments starting September 16, 2025. The Comptroller General’s Department announced this schedule as part of efforts to expedite the transfer process amidst system delays.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Thiwaporn Phasuk, Deputy Director-General and spokesperson for the Comptroller General’s Department, stated that the Elderly Fund Management Committee has set guidelines to disburse living assistance to low-income elderly individuals holding welfare cards. Each eligible person will receive 100 baht per month for eight months, covering February to September 2025, with a maximum total of 800 baht per person.

The payments will be divided into three rounds based on birthdates due to the large number of recipients. The first round will commence on September 16, 2025, followed by a second round on September 17, 2025, specifically for those born between January 1, 1953, and December 31, 1959. The final round will occur on
September 18, 2025. Some delays are anticipated, particularly for the payments on September 17, which are expected to be credited to PromptPay accounts by the afternoon.

The Comptroller General’s Department urges eligible recipients to ensure their PromptPay accounts are linked with their national ID numbers. Alternatively, they can transfer the funds to a joint or personal account by completing a consent form available on the 2022 State Welfare Registration Project’s website or at the Comptroller General’s Department and provincial treasury offices. For further information, individuals can contact the department’s Call Center during office hours.
