Bangkok: The Office of the Election Commission celebrated its 27th anniversary, emphasizing its commitment to conducting elections professionally at all levels. The commission reiterated its vision to organize elections that promote participation and instill democratic values.
According to Thai News Agency, on the anniversary occasion, Mr. Ittiporn Boonprakong, Chairman of the Election Commission, along with other commissioners, advisors, and experts, participated in a Brahma worship ceremony at the Brahma Shrine in the Government Complex. A Buddhist ceremony followed, with attendance from representatives of various organizations, including Mr. Phatiyuth Jaisawang, Acting Director-General of MCOT Public Company Limited, who led executives in extending congratulations.
Mr. Saeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission, emphasized the commission’s ongoing dedication as it enters its 28th year. The EC maintains its vision of being internationally recognized for its professional election processes within a democratic regime with the King as Head of State. Over the past two decades, the commission has focused on strengthening the election process to foster capable governance. This includes developing quality election processes at both local and national levels, standardizing referendums, and enhancing organizational and personnel capabilities in election and referendum processes. The EC also aims to integrate cooperation with various sectors to ensure sustainable political participation and to support political parties in becoming strong institutions. Additionally, the commission is committed to developing citizen education to foster knowledge, understanding, and values in the democratic regime.
The Election Commission is also opening opportunities for agencies to donate to the ‘Srisawankwattana Foundation under Royal Patronage’ to aid underprivileged patients at Chulabhorn Hospital. Donations are also being accepted for the Election Commission’s welfare fund to support public welfare activities and enhance welfare for its personnel.
