Energy Conservation Fund Invests 9 Billion Baht in 69 Projects for Quick Big Win

Bangkok: The Energy Conservation Promotion Fund Administration Office (EPO) has announced a significant investment of over 9 billion baht in 69 projects aimed at supporting energy conservation initiatives, particularly in remote areas where electricity access remains limited. These projects, under the Quick Big Win policy, are set to begin reporting and implementation from early January next year.

According to Thai News Agency, the Manager of the Energy Conservation Promotion Fund Administration Office (ECPF), Mr. Ratthachat Siriphanich, disclosed that 1,070 project proposals were submitted for the 2025 fiscal year, amounting to 13.488 billion baht, surpassing the available budget of 2.75 billion baht. The Ministry of Energy’s policy focuses on generating income and reducing energy expenditures, prioritizing projects in areas with limited electricity access, with 1 billion baht available to support these initiatives.

The government agencies involved will adhere to a “Half-Half” scheme, requiring grant applicants to co-pay half of the project budget. Proposals amounting to 2.4 billion baht were submitted, with 500 million baht allocated so far. Priority areas include energy systems for hospitals, agricultural enterprises, factories, buildings, energy research, and personnel development.

The submitted projects are categorized as follows: 290 half-and-half projects from government agencies, 129 projects for areas without electricity, 348 projects supporting community enterprises and factories, 130 research projects, 112 demonstration projects, and 61 projects focusing on personnel development and public relations.

Currently, the project proposals are being reviewed, with the RTAF responsible for screening and submitting them to the subcommittee for further consideration. Project implementation is expected to start in early January 2026, following the approval process.

For the fiscal year 2026, the Energy Conservation Fund will establish guidelines and priorities for spending across 2026-2028. The fund has earmarked an initial budget of 9 billion baht to support the Quick Big Win policy and energy transition initiatives, awaiting final approval from the Board.

The E.C.F., acting as the secretariat for the Energy Conservation Promotion Fund Committee, plays a crucial role in supporting the Energy Conservation Plan and Renewable and Alternative Energy Development Plan. The Quick Big Win approach aims to accelerate income growth and reduce energy costs, contributing to the national economy and the Net Zero target by 2050.
