AIS Launches New Service to Combat SMS Fraud

Bangkok: AIS is enhancing its cybersecurity efforts by launching the “1185 Snap and Share to Report Fraudulent SMS” service, making it easier for customers to report fraudsters. Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS) announced the launch of a new service, ‘1185 Snap and Share, Report Fraudulent SMS,’ which facilitates customers in reporting fraudulent information more easily, accurately, and quickly. Customers can send a screenshot of the SMS message from a fraudster to SMS number 1185. The system will review and notify the results within 24 hours, and block the fraudulent messages from being sent to other customers. Reporting is free, unlimited, and free of charge. AIS invites customers to join in reporting fraudsters to join forces to build a strong security network, protecting themselves and other users from fraud. This reinforces AIS’s commitment to driving a strong year of cybersecurity.

According to Thai News Agency, AIS customers can easily report SMS scams in three easy steps: capture the SMS screen where the scammer was sent. Then, open the SMS application and attach the image. Send it to 1185 without typing any additional text. The system will respond to the message to expedite the investigation within 1-2 seconds and notify you of the results via SMS within 24 hours.

If it is found that the message is from a scammer, the system will block the message and URL link attached to the SMS so that it cannot be sent again. We will also expand the process to close the Sender Name and notify the NBTC and the destination network to block the risk for all customers.
