Bangkok: ‘Fiew’ Punrawee Rueanrot, a female boxer from the Thai national team, is gearing up to represent the army in the International Military Council Amateur Muay Thai Championship. After this event, she will return to training camp to aim for a spot in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Sutin Khlangsaeng, President of the Military Sports Promotion Association of Thailand, recently visited the Indoor Sports Training Center of the SAT to inspect the training of the Royal Thai Army’s male and female boxing athletes. In preparation for the 1st International Military Council Amateur Muay Thai Championship, taking place from July 10-13 at Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon Shopping Mall, he also distributed gifts and provided 200,000 baht to establish a welfare fund. This initiative aims to push Thai boxing towards inclusion in the International Military Council Games ‘CISM Summer World Game 2027’ in the United States.
The Thai Army’s representation for this championship consists of 15 athletes from the Royal Thai Army, Royal Thai Navy, and Royal Thai Air Force, supported by four coaches. Among these athletes is “Fiew” Punrawee Rueanrot, previously known as Chuthamas Jitpong. She has been called upon by the army to compete and expressed her readiness to perform at her best. Rueanrot is adapting to using her feet and knees again and is determined to excel before returning to compete for a spot in the 2028 LA Olympic Games in the women’s 57 kg division.
