Flags Across Thailand Lowered to Half-Mast to Mourn Queen Mother

Bangkok: Flags across Thailand have been lowered to half-mast to mourn Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. This decision follows the Cabinet’s approval of an announcement by the Prime Minister’s Office regarding her passing, dated October 24, 2025. All government offices, state enterprises, government agencies, and educational institutions have been instructed to lower their flags to half-mast for 30 days, starting on October 25, 2025.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, has issued a letter to all 76 provincial governors nationwide. The letter informs all government offices, state enterprises, government agencies, and educational institutions to lower their flags to half-mast for the specified mourning period. Additionally, civil servants, state enterprise employees, and government officials are required to observe a one-year period of mourning, effective October 25, 2025. Districts and local administrative organizations are also urged to comply, and the general public is encouraged to consider appropriate actions to express their condolences.

All provincial halls in the 76 provinces have complied by lowering their flags to half-mast, demonstrating their respect and mourning for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. Relevant government agencies and departments have been notified to adhere to this announcement, ensuring a unified display of mourning throughout the nation.
