Flash Floods Devastate Chanrat Bridge, Disrupting 151 Households.

Yala: Betong District, Yala Province, heavy rain caused flash floods to collapse a bridge, causing severe hardship for 151 households, with the road cut off. Initially, the local government built a temporary wooden bridge so that villagers could walk out to buy food.

According to Thai News Agency, Betong District Chief, Yala Province, along with relevant officials, went to inspect the Chanrat Bridge behind Yarom Police Station after heavy rains in the middle of last night (11 November) caused flash floods to wash away the bridge. This resulted in severe hardship for 151 households, as roads were cut off, making it impossible to travel into the city.

Officials had to put up barriers to block the road to prevent any type of vehicle from passing through due to the dangerous conditions. They also installed ladders to allow villagers to pass. Unaware of the bridge’s collapse, some villagers rode their motorcycles past, resulting in two motorcycles falling off and sustaining minor injuries.

Betong District Chief
is coordinating with the Department of Rural Roads to urgently address the issue. Initially, the local government plans to construct a temporary wooden bridge to enable villagers to access food and other necessities.
