Bangkok: The flood situation in Nan city has continued to decrease, but many areas are still flooded, with flooding higher than 1 meter. Villagers are beginning to assess the damage.
According to Thai News Agency, Nan’s main commercial and economic area, Sumonthaewarat Road, was previously flooded almost up to the neck, but now the water has receded to about the front of the leg, which is about 1 meter lower. However, the surrounding area is still flooded, especially in low-lying areas, where the water is still higher than 1 meter. The news team went to inspect the damage to a hotel in the middle of Nan, which was covered in mud and many cars and motorcycles were parked there. Meanwhile, shop owners in this area began inspecting the damage from the flood.
Another area that was severely damaged was Nan Hospital, which was flooded over an area of 40 rai. In some areas, the water was almost up to the head. The water has receded, but the buildings were damaged by water overflowing and flooding medicines and medical equipment. However, about 300 inpatients are still safe. Doctors, nurses, and staff are rushing to clean up the area in order to return the hospital to normal service as soon as possible.
This morning, Ms. Thirat Rattanawanich, Deputy Minister of Interior, visited the area to survey the damage in the heart of the economic zone of Nan.
