The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Thursday confirmed that the former Yogyakarta mayor has been caught red-handed for bribery.
“It is true, today KPK caught red-handed several people suspected of committing a bribery crime in Yogyakarta,” acting spokesperson for KPK, Ali Fikri, informed in Jakarta on Thursday.
One of those who were caught red-handed was the former Yogyakarta mayor, identified by his initials as HS, he said.
However, he refused to divulge further details about the case.
He said a KPK team is in the process of interrogating the people who were caught red-handed.
“Shortly after the interrogation is completed, we will make public the latest developments in the case,” he added.
Based on the Penal Code, KPK has 1×24 hours to decide the legal status of those nabbed in connection with the case.
