Nonthaburi: A group of over 20 young men on motorcycles unleashed chaos in Nonthaburi, throwing grenades, firing guns, and attacking their rivals with knives. The incident took place around 1:30 a.m. on October 13th at Tiwanon Road (Samakee Intersection) opposite Sai Thong Village in Tha Sai Subdistrict, Mueang District. The violent outburst, which left a hole in the window of a nearby convenience store, alarmed local residents and passersby, though no injuries or fatalities were reported.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. A, a witness and longtime motorcycle taxi rider in the area, noted that this was not the first occurrence of such violence, as the community has been plagued by similar incidents of bombings. He reported that the assailants shouted at each other as they caused mayhem, creating a climate of fear among residents and passengers alike. Despite repeated reports to the police, the situation has not improved, leaving locals distressed and vendors hesitant to conduct business.
Ms. B, a 15-year-old resident of Soi Sai Thong, suggested the violence might have originated from a dispute involving teenagers from the Bang Phang area, who accused a Sai Thong youth of provoking them. She claimed that despite questioning local teenagers, none admitted to issuing any challenge. The area around Sai Thong Village has been a frequent target of bombings, with incidents escalating in recent weeks. She expressed a strong desire for officers from the Rattanathibet Police Station to intervene and apprehend those responsible, as the community endures ongoing hardship.
