Chonburi: A pickup truck transporting gas exploded with a loud bang on the Chaloem Mark Witthi Bridge in Chonburi Province, leaving the driver burned and injured. Rescue workers quickly transported the driver to Chonburi Hospital for medical treatment.

According to Thai News Agency, the explosion occurred at the Khlong Sangkhep Intersection in the Makham Yong Subdistrict of Mueang District, causing panic among motorists on the bridge. In response to the incident, police officers from Chonburi City Police Station and rescue workers rushed to the scene to provide assistance and coordinate with fire services to contain the intense blaze.

At the site of the explosion, authorities found a pickup truck severely damaged by the blast. Firefighters spent an hour spraying water to control the fire and safely remove the gas tanks from the area. The explosion had torn apart the vehicle, which was carrying four large gas tanks, each weighing 48 kilograms. The driver, suffering from burn injuries, was immediately taken t
o the hospital.

Mr. Nattapol, a 34-year-old officer from the Chachoengsao Charity Association, witnessed the incident and parked his rescue vehicle to block the scene, preventing other vehicles from approaching. He observed smoke rising from the bridge and quickly intervened to help the injured driver, who sustained burn wounds covering 5-10 percent of his body.

Initial investigations suggest that the explosion may have resulted from improperly secured gas tanks. It is believed that the tanks were laid flat and collided with each other when the vehicle braked, causing the explosion.
