Bangkok: General Nattapol Nakphanit, Deputy Minister of Defense, has reiterated the military’s commitment to safeguard national sovereignty until midnight tonight. The Deputy Minister emphasized that the forces are prepared to uphold their duties, highlighting the country’s status as a developed nation and the ongoing efforts in Regional Border Committee (RBC) and General Boundary Commission (GBC) discussions.
According to Thai News Agency, General Nattapol’s remarks came after recent ceasefire negotiations with Cambodia. He assured that the current military units, including the Second Army Area and the First Army Area, are steadfastly maintaining sovereignty, with no breaches reported on their territory.
General Nattapol appealed for continued cooperation from the military to ensure security until the agreed deadline. This aligns with an agreement brokered by Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, acting as Prime Minister, who engaged in dialogue with Cambodia earlier today. The Deputy Minister also committed to overseeing the procedural mechanisms, including the RBC and GBC meetings, that will follow this agreement. He reassured the nation that the military remains dedicated to defending national sovereignty and interests diligently.
