Bangkok: Maris reveals a positive development as Cambodia agrees to re-engage in bilateral talks with Thailand through three established mechanisms, aiming to enhance communication channels between their respective ministries of foreign affairs and defense.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Maris Sengiampong, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, highlighted after negotiations in Malaysia regarding the Thai-Cambodian border situation that Thailand maintains a positive global image recognized for supporting peace and avoiding force. Acting Prime Minister Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai has emphasized Thailand’s consistent desire for peace, achieved through patience and peaceful mechanisms.
Mr. Maris further explained that Cambodia’s agreement to resume dialogue through the Thailand-Cambodia Joint Boundary Committee (JBC), the Regional Border Committee (RBC), and the Thailand-Cambodia General Border Committee (GBC) marks a significant step toward peaceful negotiations. Cambodia’s proposal to establish communication channels between the ministries of foreign affairs and defense underscores a commitment to sincere and peaceful dialogue.
