GH Bank Advances CSR Initiatives for Housing, Jobs, and Inequality Reduction

Bangkok: The Government Housing Bank (GHB) is actively pursuing initiatives to build houses, create jobs, and reduce inequality as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects, aiming to improve quality of life and strengthen communities.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Kamolpop Virapala, President of GHB, stated the bank’s commitment to reducing social inequality through CSR efforts in housing, income generation, education, and social and environmental development. Over the past 72 years, GHB has assisted more than 100,000 underprivileged families through several key projects.

In the housing sector, GH Bank focuses on providing appropriate housing for the underprivileged, including the poor, elderly, and disabled. Since 2010, the bank has implemented a housing construction and repair project, resulting in over 5,120 homes being built or repaired. GH Bank has also partnered with the First Army Region to aid those in Bangkok and 25 central provinces, offering essential goods alongside housing support.

Education is another priority, with GHB collaborating with the Border Patrol Police to construct or repair school buildings in remote areas. Since 2011, GHB has supported 39 schools, ensuring proper facilities and clean water systems. This effort aims to provide quality education and improve life quality in these regions.

GH Bank also promotes social and environmental development through initiatives like the “One Career, One Community for Sustainability” project. This scheme supports bamboo growers in Sa Kaeo Province, enhancing their production processes and expanding market access, thereby increasing income and improving community living standards.

In the sports sector, GHB has been a key sponsor of the Taekwondo Association of Thailand since 2006, supporting Thai athletes in international competitions. Additionally, GHB’s long-standing collaboration with the Thai Red Cross Society has facilitated significant blood donations since 1988, reflecting its commitment to societal welfare.

Through its various initiatives in housing, education, community development, and environment, GH Bank continues to contribute significantly to the development of Thai society, embodying its mission to sustainably provide homes for Thais.
