Government Deploys Seven Ministers for Shelter Inspections in Four Provinces

Bangkok: The government has assigned seven ministers to inspect all 12 shelters in four provinces tomorrow to gather empirical data to determine the second round of additional compensation, including for damaged homes, farms, and pets, before submitting it to the Cabinet for consideration. Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that the government has tasked ministers with conducting field visits to gather guidance on the second round of relief, specifically for damaged homes, agricultural areas, and livestock. The visits will include visits to 12 temporary shelters across Surin, Sisaket, Buriram, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces. The ministers will receive guidance on providing assistance and support to those affected, meeting with over 30,000 people during the long weekend of August 9-10.

According to Thai News Agency, on Saturday, August 9, Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuphrai, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, visited shelter centers in Surin Province, including Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, Surin Campus, Surin Rajabhat University, Wat Sutthithammaram, and the School for the Deaf in Chueang Subdistrict.

For Sunday, August 10th, six ministers will be collecting information and visiting the shelters. Mr. Pongkawin Jungrungreangkit, Minister of Labor, will visit shelter centers in Surin Province, including Sikhoraphum Phisai School, Sikhoraphum Vocational School, and Chomphra Prachasan School. Mr. Sorawong Thienthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports, and Ms. Manoporn Charoensri, Deputy Minister of Transport, will visit the Nakhantom Temple Shelter in San Mak Subdistrict and the Kham Sa-at Temple Shelter in Sisaket Province. Mr. Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and Mr. Tewan Liptapallop, Deputy Minister of Education, will visit the Chang Circuit Shelter in Buriram Province. Ms. Thirat Rattanawanich, Deputy Minister of Interior, will visit the Mek Noi Temple Shelter and the Muang Det Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Ubon Ratchathani Province.

Mr. Chirayu further stated that the government is closely monitoring the situation and is ready to expedite relief, compensation, and care measures for the people in all areas. He emphasized cooperation between central and local governments to coordinate comprehensive and rapid relief. The seven ministers who visited the area will summarize the information to determine the second round of relief measures related to damaged agricultural, livestock, and residential areas. This will be compiled into a detailed second round of relief measures to be presented to the Cabinet.
