Government to Lead Diplomatic and Media Delegation to Thai-Cambodian Border

Bangkok: Tomorrow, the government will escort diplomatic missions, military attach©s, and media representatives to the border regions of Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani to witness the aftermath of recent attacks on civilian areas.

According to Thai News Agency, the initiative is spearheaded by the CCSA committee, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, and the Prime Minister’s Office. This delegation aims to provide a transparent view of the destruction inflicted on homes, schools, and hospitals, a stark contrast to the narratives presented by Cambodian sources.

Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, explained that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has extended invitations to diplomatic corps and military attach©s from 24 countries. Approximately 110 Thai media personnel from 18 agencies and around 40 foreign media representatives from 26 news agencies are expected to attend. The visit is intended to convey accurate and evidence-based information to the global community.

Participants will observe firsthand the damage caused by attacks targeting non-military civilian locations, which the Thai government asserts is a serious breach of international humanitarian law and human rights principles. Mr. Jirayu emphasized that Thailand has no intention of distorting information, instead focusing on presenting factual data from the ground to the international community.

The itinerary for the visit includes a situation briefing at Sapphasitthiprasong Camp in Ubon Ratchathani Province, followed by tours of the affected areas and interactions with displaced residents. Mr. Jirayu assured that the visit will be conducted under stringent security measures, reaffirming Thailand’s commitment to peace and its stance against initiating conflict.
